It's a Wrap. How BRIDES, made modern Stays Sustainable in Our Packaging

j

It's no longer a preference, it's a MUST. More and more adopters, and new businesses are opting for environmentally sound choices for their packaging, regardless of their product or interest. Whether that's encouraging consumer's to go paper-free, using sustainable or minimal elements in packaging materials or encouraging up-cycling of garments and extending the wearable life reducing the need to unconsciously consume.

So what exactly constitutes as "sustainable?" Sustainable packaging is packaging that, over time, reduces its environmental footprint.

This can happen in a number of ways:

  • Ingredients: Using raw 100% recycled or raw materials
  • Production process: By minimising the production process, supply chain and carbon footprint
  • Reusability: Creating a circular economy around the packaging, extending its lifecycle and usability.
As BRIDES, made modern's strap-line is "Vow to re-work, re-wear and re-purpose" designer and bridal fashion, it was crucial to establish the brand expectations from the outset. We are extremely big fans of minimising the supply chain, going direct to other small and independent businesses to purchase  unwanted or excess materials such as our  packaging and dress boxes. We also used excess left-over props from my earlier wedding, such as excess biodegrable foil and confetti for packaging. BRIDES, made modern encourages as many elements of sustainable and bio degradable as possible for both packaging and the garment's lifetime.  Finally, of course we encourage alterations, slow fashion, samples and using independent brands, ateliers, suppliers and professionals.
